Atiku’s presidential aspiration gathered momentum at the weekend in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state as over 5,000 youths drawn from the 31 local government areas stormed the state capital with a resolve to mobilize support for him.
At the formal meeting to elect the state executive officers, the youths under the aegis of Atiku 100 percent, maintained that Atiku Abubarkar remains the only politician that the country must look onto in 2019, to redeem her from many years of stagnation and misrule.
Speaking at the event which held weekend at Unique Garden and Resort, Uyo, the state Coordinator, Mr. Patrick Iwok, solicited the cooperation of all and challenged them to spread their dragnet to every nook and crannies of the state.
He said the purpose of the formation of the state officers was to have a strong support base that would galvanize further support for Atiku’s presidential ambition.
“I want to thank for your support and individual efforts you have put so far in this project. The purpose of this meeting is to have a strong support base for our principal who will be here any moment from now. Iam happy that all of you are politicians very much respected in your respective local government areas of the state”.
The Secretary of the group, Mr. John Isangedighi, who thanked God for the opportunity to serve said though Atiku is not a new name in Nigeria body politics, they would make available sacrifices to ensure that he emerges the PDP flag bearer.
“We thank God for this platform to strengthen Atiku, we have indicated interest to support and we must do it well. All that is required from every one of us is commitment and sacrifice and I want assure everybody that we will be committed to our callings” he said.
In her remarks, the women leader, Deaconess, Aniema Edem, stressed the need for cooperation of all the members, stressing that the race which has just begun must be won. End
