The Advocates for Collective Transformation, ACT has unveiled plans to engage about ten million youths for peaceful participation in the 2015 general election.
ACT president Tayo Fashogbon speaking at the group’s national meeting in Lagos, said youths’ participation is critical to the success of the election.
Fashogbon while addressing members from the 36 states of the federation said the group will train and enlighten 10 million youths on peaceful participation in electoral process.
He said the youths will be engaged through social media platforms, institutions of higher learning and religious organizations their roles in achieving credible polls in 2015.
“We know the youths (are) critical to the success of any election, we have seen how their peaceful conduct in Osun, Ekiti and Niger contributed to the success of the poll.
“We have mapped out our strategies to ensure we train the youths in all nook and cranny of the country.
Fashogbon noted that with right information it would be difficult for Nigerian youths to be used as political thugs.
ACT General Secretary Isaac Ifeloluwa described the group as a political pressure movement targeted at providing quality leadership.
“Today we have many messages in the public sphere, our youths are exposed to political lies that may hoodwink them to choosing wrong candidates at various level, ACT is to help them know the truth.
“We will make every information about political parties, candidate available to every member of the public in all local languages in the country.”
Ifeloluwa said ACT is a village to village campaign initiative to position the right leaders for the next generation.
