Niger state Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has cautioned political parties over disregarding traffic rules and regulations governing roads during electioneering campaigns in the state.
The Command in a press statement signed by its Head of Public Education, Simeon Bitrus expressed worry that the politicians flaunt these road rules and endanger the lives of people.
According to him, these Political Parties commit various offences such as overloading, reckless and dangerous driving, over – speeding, wrongful parking, under age driving, dangerous overtaking, driving against traffic and defacing of road signs with posters.
Bitrus lamented that these actions negates the effort of the Corps in creating safe motoring environment for all road users in the state calling on all political parties to conduct their campaigns with utmost decorum and be safety conscious.
The Command also assured the general public of the zeal by the officers and Men of the Corps to stop the avoidable loss of lives and property on the highways through aggressive enlightenment campaign and effective patrol activities in the State.
