The assault on the forest is continuing from various fronts and efforts are concentrated on rescuing hostages of civilians and destroying all terrorists camps and facilities in the forest, the statement said.

Earlier, the Nigerian military rescued about 293 including 200 girls and 93 women.Another set of women were reportedly freed ,but the number  of people in  the second  set was not disclosed.

Despite all these massive rescue of girls and women from Boko Haram camps in Sambisa ,the defence headquarters has been hesitant in confirming or denying  whether the Chibok School girls were among those so far freed.

Pictures of the rescued girls and women as well some of the children freed earlier showed evidence of malnutrition among the  infants.
