Tambuwal frowns at Sokoto’s Health Statistics

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state on Tuesday stated that his administration was determined to fight the state’s various negative statistics in the health sector.

He spoke at the opening ceremony of the 5th National Conference of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) on Tuesday.

Tambuwal, who stated that he had made education the number priority of his administration added that he would rely on the expertise of groups and institutions for optimum result.‎ “In that regard, the state government will partner with the Usmanu Danfodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) to train nurses and midwives from the 23 local government areas of the state.‎”

According to the governor, the government would also adopt and implement research results concluded by the Sokoto Energy Research Centre (SERC), which he described as one of the best in the country. “From the 2016 budge circle, special grants will be set aside by the government to assist research institutions in the state to carry out researches in areas of need to Sokoto and neighbouring states,” he disclosed.
