As the lingering legal tussle over the sharing of the estate between the children of late renowned politician and businessman Alhaji Umaru Jibrilla the father of the incumbent Senator Bindowo Jibrilla representing Adamawa North Senatorial Zone intensifies, Adamawa state Shariah Court of Appeal has fixed Monday next week for hearing of the case between Sen. Bindowo Jibrilla and some of his brothers over the sharing of their late father’s estates.
The appeal was filed by Senator Bindowo and three others against Mustafa Jibrilla and 27 others over the ruling of a lower court (Upper Area Court, Mubi) which ruled that the gift of properties by late Jibrilla to some of his selected children is discriminatory and not in line with Sharia injunctions.
The lower court presided by Musa Usman ordered among others that all rents collected by beneficiaries of the purported gift in Abuja since the death of Jibrilla be remitted to the court for sharing to all heirs .
Senator Bindowo and three of his brothers who were not satisfied by the ruling of the lower court( challenged it )at the Shariah Court of Appeal Mubi which fixed Monday next week as the day for the sitting of the court over the matter in Mubi.
Late Alhaji Umaru Jibrilla died on the 23/04/2011 leaving behind 28 children comprising 16 males and 12 females.
The deceased ,a popular business man and philanthropist left many properties in Abuja, Yola, Maiduguri and Mubi towns.
Some of the properties listed in Abuja included Sabon Dale shopping complex at plot 526 Obafemi Awolowo street in Jabi, 4 storey buildings, and 1 block of 2 storey buildings at plot 564/565 airport road near Bolingo Hotel, central Area.
