Rivers State delegates have formally elected Dr Dakuku Adol Peterside as the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress,APC for the 2015 polls.The election took place the Alfred Diete Spiff Civic Centre, Port Harcourt, Rivers State
In the election supervised by the six-man National Electoral Committee under the chairmanship of Prince Austin Eweka from Edo State Peterside polled 3774 out of a total valid vote of 3914
The total total number of delegates was 4,574 while the total number of delegates accredited given as 4,321.There were 140 invalid votes.
The event was attended by Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi the leader of Rivers State APC with the Deputy Governor, Engr Tele Ikuru. Other Special delegates includes the Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Amachree Otelemba, Members of the National Assembly from the State, members of Rivers State House of Assembly, members of the State Executive Council, the CTC of the 23 Local Government Councils and Dr Davies Ikanya the APC State chairman among key and stakeholders of the party.
Days before the primaries, the party announced Peterside as its consensus candidate.
