The National Youth Council of Nigeria has disowned reports that it has fixed a date for a planned protest against Minister of Interior,Abba Moro and the alleged Nigeria Immigration Service employment fee.A statement emailed to Newsdiaryonline by Martin Igwe, national public relation officer of NYCN said the those behind the reported planned protest belong to “ one time transition committee whose tenure expired long ago”
Igwe added that “It is on that note, we call our exco members to expect our emergency invitation letters for an emergency meeting, where our resolution will be known on the Nigeria Immigration Service employment charge, the proposed rally against Abba Moro minister of interior and other national issues.”
Mr Wale Ajani, described as a stalwart of NYCN had reportedly threatened to bilize youth toward a protest at the national assembly over the immigration service employment charge of N1000 .The protest scheduled for January 23rd is aimed at calling for the sack of Moro, the minister.
But Igwe in a statement apparently disowning Ajani’s plans also urged him instead to work and pray for the success of incumbent NYCN exco and ensure selfless service.
“Time has come to turn the page and let the whole world know that with courage and determination in the face of impossible odds young people who love their country can change it
“Finally we appeal to Nigerian youths to unite against poverty, ethnic politics and say no to self centred politician who are not happy to see a united peaceful Nigeria” Igwe said.
