The Nasarawa State Police Command has made some arrests in connection with the recent violence in the state.
Police public Relation officer ,PPRO of the state Command ,Mr ugochukwu Theodore said twenty persons(20) have been arrested .He disclosed this during the monthly briefing of journalists in Lafia ,the state capital.
The Police Spokesman said on 16th ,17th and 18th of November 2014 the suspects along with others at large from the different ethnic group in Nasarawa state engaged themselves in acts such as disturbing public peace as well setting houses ,shops ,and other property ablaze .The suspects are also accused of causing the death of some innocent citizens of the state
The suspects who are already in police custody will soon be charged to court .Among those arrested include Amos Alu,Ibrahim Yahuza ,Hamza Jibrin ,faisal Sani ,Isa Abdullahi and 15 others
Also, the police said 20 persons were rescued during the recent ethnic crises in the state.
Equally ,the police have called for more support from the general public for information that will ensure the situation is brought under control.
The latest crisis flared up after an alleged killing of Ombatse cult leader by suspected Fulani herdsmen. This led to reprisal killings by suspected Ombatse cult members.Curiously the violence spread to Lafia the state capital before it was curtailed recently.
