The victory of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Chief Ademola Adeleke in the Osun West senatorial election is a sure sign of the beginning of an end to APC’s insensitive dominance of Nigeria’s political space, the PDP Caucus in the House of Representatives has said.
In a statement issued on behalf of the PDP House Caucus by the House Minority Leader, Honourable Leo Ogor, the caucus expressed hearty felicitations with the Adeleke family, PDP members and all the people of Osun state for helping to signal the coming end of end of APC dominance in Nigeria.
In the statement titled “PDP Triumph In Osun : The Beginnng Of The End For APC”, the caucus expressed confidence that APC which came to power on the wings of citizens’ high expectations and its deceitful promises is about to unravel.
“In addition to winning in ten out of eleven local government· areas, Ademola Adeleke, the PDP candidate in Osun West Senatorial District by-election defeated APC candidate, Senator Mudashiru Hussain with total votes of 97 , 480 to 66,116.
“While the lackluster APC candidate had no commendable record of projects in even Ejigbo, hometown during his past stay in the Senate, he was the anointed one imposed by Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s fiat instead of allowing democratic processes of choice at the primaries.
“In Osun state and elsewhere, the APC has come to be identified with deadened insensitivity to people’s pains and it was no surprise that while citizens acknowledge that an unprecedented number of Nigerians are losing their minds and committing suicide as a result of bad economic management by the APC government, it has remained pre-occupied with its usual degenerate propaganda.
“Remarkably, while the APC government embarked on a bogus, mindless and self-deceiving euphoria of a midterm milestone, a poll conduct ed with APC’s official Twitter handle in May this year showed that 54 percent of respondents rate the APC federal administration’s performance as poor while 33 percent view it as mere average.
“Undoubtedly, lack of solution to worsening unemployment, insecurity caused by herdsmen’s unchecked killing of people across the entire federation and the gross impunity with which opposition members are being hunted, raided and jailed will all facilitate a damning verdict for APC in 2019.
“APC’s defeat in Osun last Saturday is a signal of the beginning of the end of APC and we congratulate our new Senator, Ademola Adeleke for leading the charge for demystification of Aregbesola and the deceitful promises that APC stands for; we have begun a counter-offensive that would sweep off APC in 2019”, the PDP House Caucus’ leader added.
