Reports today said Comrade David Ugolor has been granted bail by a Benin High Court.His bail comes as relief to his colleagues who have been campaigning against his detention by the police.
Ugolor was arrested by the Police allegedly in connection with the murder of Comrade Olaitan Oyerinde, the principal private secretary to Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state.Ugolor and late Olaitan were bosom friends and his arrest swiftly sparked fears of alleged frame up .
Further suspicion of the Police investigations into Oyerinde’s investigation was deepened by the decision of the State Security Service, SSS to parade another set of suspects whom the SSS said were the armed robbers that allegedly shot Oyerinde dead.There has not been any public parade of the set of suspects held by the police in their investigations.
As this contradictions linger Governors Adams Oshiomhole has reportedly called on President Goodluck Jonathan to conduct a probe into the affair.The governor seems unimpressed with the police investigations into Oyerinde’s death.
For Ugolor, it is time to savour his freedom on bail once again.
