There is raging anger in Kaduna over the alleged use of money by some All Progressive Congress,APC aspirants as delegates elected the party’s flagbearers for the race into Kaduna State House Assembly.
“You cannot believe the excessive use of money by APC aspirants in the race. Some aspirants gave each delegate as much as N100,000 in some cases.APC?The party we say wants to ensure change? The leaders must look into this”,one furious politician told Newsdiaryonline.
Sources cited three clear constituencies within Kaduna metropolis where money power earned the “winners” higher votes. “ It was the highest bidders that won.I can tell you, popular aspirants that didn’t have money lost and that could spell danger for our party”,one insider said.
The areas where money was used according to Newsdiaryonline sources include Makera;Tudun Wada and Ungwar Sunusi.Newsdiaryonline was told that in Tudun Wada for instance, the aspirant who was elected(names withheld) allegedly dashed delegates N100,000 each.
There appears to be more anger in U/Sunusi where it was alleged that the aspirant who won spent not less that N5.7million as he allegedly gave each of the about 57 delegate at least N100,000
In makera ,though the amount of money was paltry compared to Tudun Wada and U/Sunusi,it was still some competition between the two APC aspirants. It was the highest bidder who gave N15,00 to each of the delegates that “won” while his opponent who could only give N10,000 to each delegate lost.
“My concern is that you could see N100,000 being spent to buy delegates at local government level. Can you believe this is happening within our party APC?The party that wants to bring about change?” an angry source cried out.
All attempts to get official reactions failed.
