Junior Lokosa scored a brace on Wednesday for Kano Pillars Football Club to beat visiting Plateau United FC 2-0 in a 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) fixture.
The Match Day 6 fixture which was played at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano saw Junior Lokosa scoring in the 21st and 27th minutes.
It was a feat which helped him to take his season’s tally to six goals in six games.
Plateau United failed to convert several goal scoring chances as Kano Pillars defenders tenaciously held forth.
Kano Pillars’ coach Ibrahim Musa, after the match, said his heart was filled with joy over his team’s performance against a good side.
“I am happy my boys put in their very best and played according to instructions, and I am happy that we got our three points at home today,’’ he said.
Musa, however, expressed the hope that his players would maintain the winning spirit, especially in away matches.
On their next game against MFM FC in Kano, the coach said his team would go for the maximum point as usual.
On his part, Plateau United’s coach Kennedy Boboye said his team lost because his players failed to convert the scoring chances they had into goals.
“We have to go back home and work on the mistakes we’ve picked up from this match,’’ he said. (NAN )
