Ninety communities in Wamakko local government area of Sokoto state, Thursday received 2,600 bags of cement from the Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN).
The cement worth over N5 million was presented to the benefiting communities at the Secretariat of Wamakko local government.\
CCNN Managing Director, Mr Alf Karlsen, represented by the Director of Technical Services, Ahmed Idris said that the gesture was an annual event “aimed at assisting the communities to execute various self-help projects.
“We have also planned to execute more of such projects as part of our corporate social responsibility to our host communities,” Karlsen added.
He listed some of the projects to include an Islamiya school, a Juma’at Mosque, electrification, bore holes and roads.
Wamakko local government Council Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Kalambaina commended the company for the gesture.
“The firm has been a reliable partner in the progress of its host communities,” he said.
