The new Coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles,Mr Sunday Oliseh has read out the riot act to players who want to feature in the national team. They must be good. They must also be playing active football in in the first division or any of the best leagues in the world.Exceptional players in age grade competitions could however be considered, he said.
He made this known on Wednesday after he was unveiled by Nigeria Football Federation ,NFF as the coach.
“If you are not playing in the first division in Nigeria or the best league in the world, you are not good enough to play for the Super Eagles. However, there is an exception. If you are playing in any of the age grade teams but you are good enough to play for the senior team, you will be given a chance. I am talking about U-17, U-20 and U-23 national team players.
“No player should think he is doing this nation a favour by coming to play. I am not doing this country a favour by accepting to coach the national team. It is honour and privilege for me to be appointed to coach the national team”.
The new boss noted that he was purely coming to serve the nation. “First of all, I am not coming as a messiah. I am not coming as a person who knows it all. I am not coming as a single person to make Nigeria like Germany. But I am coming as a person who has come to serve his country. We are ready to give hundred and fifty per cent for the job,”Oliseh said.
