The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA has dismissed the online reports of an alleged bomb blast at the orientation camp of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC in Bauchi State.
Spokesperson of the agency, Mr Yushau Shuaib dispelled the rumor saying there was nothing of such.
“NEMA wishes to inform the public that there wasn’t any explosion in Bauchi today as has been speculated”
He however warned the general public especially social media users to desist from misleading the populace.
“We should desist from rumor mongering that may cause fear and anxiety among the citizens” said Yusha’u.
Also the State Security Services, Nigeria Police Force and the NYSC in Bauchi State have all dismissed the rumor.
It will be recalled that there was an alleged bomb blast at about 11am today, Wednesday July 11, 2012 at the NYSC orientation camp in Bauchi State which was said to have claimed about 70 lives of the batch ‘B’ Corps members.
Reacting to the rumor, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Information Alhaji Mohammed Dhamina said “the bombing in Bauchi is nothing but a wicked rumor”.
Meanwhile a family member of one of the batch ‘B’ corps members in Bauchi State Mr. Moyo confirmed on a social media that he spoke to his brother and there was nothing of such.
According to his twitter handle @Moyoski “Spoke with my brother…. nothing happened in the camp apart from the routine camp activity”
