The Nigerian military has announced that there will be closure in the morning on Tuesday next week of some routes in Abuja. Acting Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General John Agim, who issued the alert in a statement said, the move was aimed to “ensure the smooth celebration of this (year’s) Armed Forces Remembrance Day Parade”.
He said, “As part of activities to ensure the smooth celebration of this year Armed Forces Remembrance Day Parade which will take place on Tuesday 15 January, 2019 at the National Arcade Abuja by 9am, the following routes will be blocked in the morning during the event: Court of Appeal junction; Foreign Affairs junction; Bayelsa House junction; Benue House junction; Phase 3 flyover ;Aso Drive by phase 3 and Mopol gate behind National Arcade”
It could be recalled that the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration is held on 15 January every year to honour the nation’s fallen heroes who paid the supreme price for peace and security.
The statement said “all inconveniences are highly regretted.” It further urged everyone tojoin the Armed Forces in remembering the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for peace and security of the country.
