Foremost political affairs analyst and researcher, Mr. Uche Igwe has re-affirmed that most of the allegations of corruption against Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, were false. He stated this from his base in the United Kingdom after listening to the confessions of Mr. Livingstone Wechie of the Civil Liberties Organization, Port Harcourt. In a live television program Focus Nigeria in Abuja earlier today, Wechie regretted that all the allegations of corruption that were levelled against Mr. Rotimi Amaechi was based on forged documents sponsored by the current governor of the state Nyesom Wike. According the civil rights activist, because of the fact the documents were forged, they were unable to go to court against the former governor. Recall that it was the same Wechie who petitioned the Senate not to confirm the nomination of Mr. Amaechi as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Speaking on the issue, Mr Igwe stated that his position on Amaechi has been justified by the revelations by Mr. Wechie himself.  “I am  shocked but not surprised at the confessions of Mr. Wechie Platform Livingstone on AIT Focus Nigeria this morning. It was this same fellow that who boasted that he had evidence of corruption against the Minister of Transportation. He has just admitted that they were all forged documents. The man Livingstone Weche has now recanted on the allegations against RotimiAmaechi. What about all the publications in the media and all advertorials in the newspapers. What about all the information and piles of documents that he took to the Senate? It means they were all fake and fabricated according to his confession. That someone will want to deceive the whole country is something I am still trying to come to terms with. The brand of politics played in Nigeria is too dangerous for anyone to emulate. It is so sad that Mr. Wike spent so much money propagating falsehood against his predecessor, he said.

Although the Transportation Minister may not be a saint but many of the allegations levels against him by Mr. NyesomWike cannot be substantiated.  I am not a politician but my counsel to Wike is to leave face governance and leave lies and propaganda alone. In a few months from now, he will face re-election, he cannot explain to the people of Rivers State that he spent four years castigating Amaechi.
