At last, the international passport of Mallam Sanusi Lamdo Sanusi, the new Emir of Kano has been returned to him.
The new emir who is now Muhammadu Sanusi 11 had a running battle with the Goodluck Jonathan administration while he served as the Governor,Central Bank of Nigeria.
After making a string of revelations about missing billions, Sanusi was sacked from office.His passport was eventually seized as the regime reeled under Sanusi’s allegation that $20billion oil money was missing from the federation account.
Though Sanusi challenged the infringement on his right and won in court, the SSS which seized his passport held on to it apparently on the orders of the presidency.
Months after Sanusi became emir of Kano, his relationship with Jonathan appeared so-so until recently when the emir led a delegation to the Presidential Villa in Abuja where the differences were resoloved.
The release of his passport on Saturday in Kano may be a real indication that the differences may in fact have been resolved.
