Kwara LP congratulates governor-elect, commends INEC, security agencies

#TrackNigeria: The State Executive Council Meeting of the Labour Party in Kwara state on Monday congratulated the winner of the governorship election, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

It also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission
(INEC) and security agencies for ensuring a successful gubernatorial election.

This is contained in a Communique signed by the Chairman of the party,
AbdulKareem Mumini Onagun; Secretary, Rotimi Kehinde Ajiboye and the governorship candidate of the party, Comrade Issa Aremu, issued at the end of its State Executive Council meeting held Monday in Ilorin and made available to Newsdiaryonline.

The meeting was attended by the Governorship Candidate and leader of the Party in the State, Comrade Issa Aremu, mni,  State Chairman of the Party and Chairman Interparty Advisory Council IPAC, Kwara State, Comrade AbdulKareem Mumini Onagun, the Party’s Secretary, Rotimi Kehinde and other executive members including representatives from the 16 LGAs of Kwara State.

According to the Communique, “the purpose of the meeting was to review the performance of the Party at the just concluded  Governorship/State House of Assembly election held on Saturday 9th March 2019 as well as the Presidential/National Assembly Election on Saturday 23rd February 2019 and to set agenda for the future.

CONGRATULATES the Governor elect Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for his victory at the just concluded governorship election.  

EXTENDS congratulation to all the elected Senators, House of Representatives Members and members of the State House of Assembly.  The Party had earlier congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari whom it gave massive support during the Presidential/National Assembly Election on Saturday February 23 for his re-election for second term in office while commending him for the promise to run all inclusive government. 

ACKNOWLEDGES that the victory of the APC Governorship Candidate in Kwara State was made possible through the massive support of good people of Kwara state and the historic alliance between the APC and the Labour Party as well as other progressive forces to consolidate on the joint victory during the Presidential and National Assembly elections, as well as wrestle power and liberate people of Kwara State from the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State.  

REAFFIRMS the commitment of the Party to abide by the spirit and content of agreement with the APC in the great task of rebuilding Kwara State to the path of prosperity for all adding that it was a long road to restore the leadership role of  Kwara state in education, health, infrastructure, industrialization and sports. 

EXPRESSES its readiness to partner with the APC consistent with the joint Memorandum of Understanding for speedy transformation of Kwara State. 

COMMENDS the people of Kwara State for keeping faith with democracy despite unfulfilled past promises while expressing optimism that the incoming government having emerged through free and fair elections would make a positive difference for the people. 

COMMENDS INEC and security agencies for ensuring a successful gubernatorial election. The Party also commended the political parties, their candidates and supporters for the peaceful and orderly conduct during the election. 

CALLS on all contestants to accept the wishes of Kwarans as expressed through the ballot box. 

ACKNOWLEDGES the remarkable support of the progressive labour movement led by the Nigeria Labour Congress as well as the National leadership of the Labour Party in the course of the electioneering campaign. 

EXPRESSES appreciation to all the party men and women in the State as well as thousands of supporters for the confidence in the party and for adhering to the directive to vote en masse for the APC during the last election, noting that with good governance all Kwarans are winners. 

MOURNS with the relatives of two Nigerians namely Amb. Abiodun Bashua and Prof. Pius Adesanmi and all the 157 passengers and crew that died in the Ethiopian Airline 320 that crashed on Sunday.
