Korean Agency Donates Multi- Million Naira Rice Milling Equipment To Bayelsa

The Korea International Corporation Agency (KOICA) has injected over N70 million into the Bayelsa State economy through the donation of five rice milling equipment.

While taking delivery of the equipment at Government House, Yenagoa, Governor Seriake Dickson assured that Government would put the rice milling equipment into effective use.

Governor Dickson who noted that the state has numerous agricultural potentials said government was poised to develop the agricultural sector and diversify the State’s economy.

The State Chief Executive expressed the willingness of the state government to develop other sectors of the Bayelsa economy.

In his response, the Chief representative of the Korean Agency in Nigeria, Jung Sang Hoon, said “the five (5) 300 gramme per hour millers worth over N70 million were donated in view of the devastating effects of the flood that must have damaged the existing rice milling machines in the state.” He assured the government of at least one year guaranty for the equipment as well as the provision of spare parts.

The highpoint of the occasion was the delivery of the rice milling equipment by the KOICA representative in Nigeria, Jung Sang Hoon and his team to Governor Dickson and some members of the Executive Council,a press release by  Daniel Iworiso-Markson chief press secretary to the governor of Bayelsa state said.

Dickson Calls For Peaceful Co-Existence Among Various Ethnic And Religious Groups, Donates Land To Muslim Community For Central Mosque In Yenagoa

 

The Bayelsa State Government has donated an expanse of land to the Muslim Community

to enable them build a befitting place of worship in Yenagoa, the state capital. Governor Seriake Dickson announced the donation when a delegation of Muslim leaders in the state paid him a visit at Government House.

The Governor who also promised to provide an operational vehicle (bus), said government would not only make the land available but support the Muslim Unman effort at constructing a central mosque.

Demonstrating government commitment towards the project, Hon. Dickson directed the

Commissioner for Lands and Survey to map out the area in accordance with the Masterplan for the capital city.

Governor Dickson justified the donation saying; “All humanity is one; if God had chosen to make all of us adherents of one religion, He would have done so without our asking.  We are all children of God regardless of the religion you belong to”.

The Governor, who observed that Nigerians are presently living in unusual times occasioned by threats to national security, stressed the need for peaceful co-existence among the different ethnic and religious groups in the country.

While congratulating the Muslims on the peaceful celebration of Eid-el Maulud, Hon. Dickson urged them to be more vigilant and promptly report suspicious characters whose activities are inimical to the prevailing peace in the state to security agencies.

Speaking earlier, Leader of the delegation, Alhaji Abdulrahman Zikiye Enewari lauded the

Dickson-led administration for its efforts at promoting security, infrastructural development as well as transparency in governance.

While assuring the Governor of their continued support, the Muslim community requested government to provide them with a separate Muslim Board, a state central Mosque, an 18-seater bus, and office accommodation for the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs among others.
