Zainab Suleiman Okino_2Kogi State Government can now partner International donor Agencies for all round development, Commissioner For Information Hajia Zainab Suleiman-Okino said in a statement. This followed the establishment of the State statistical Bureau which is a major requirement for accessing facilities of donor Agencies.
With this development, International donor organizations like the World Bank, UNICEF, UNDP and UN Agencies can now effectively partner the Kogi State Government to fast track development in all sectors.
The establishment of the Bureau followed the implementation of the Law which was passed by the Kogi State House of Assembly and assented to by Governor Idris Wada.
The Law which is tagged “The establishment of Kogi State Statistical System and Kogi State Bureau of Statistics” stipulates that the Bureau shall be the main State Agency responsible for the development and management of official statistics, the authoritative source and custodian of official statistics in the State.
It also stipulates that the Agency will be responsible for the co-ordination of State statistical system, have up to date data at all times and play advisory roles for the State and Local Governments in matters of development.
The Law also provides the Agency with the legal authority to collect, process, analyze and disseminate quality statistical data and information of the state in a coordinated and timely manner for policy and decision making.
The State Statistical Bureau maintains a data Bank for all stakeholders interested in doing any business with the State to access and as an interface between the State Statistical Bureau and the National Statistical Bureau makes possible importation and exportation of data from either side.
