A typical accident scene in Lokoja
A Government House Ambulance was on Sunday involved in an accident along Ganaja road within Lokoja, the Kogi state capital. A statement by Mr Jacob Edi, special adviser on media and strategy to Governor Idris Wada said the ambulance which was coming into the state capital, Lokoja, from the Eastern part of the state, ran into a middle aged woman with a baby strapped to her back on a motorcycle when she attempted crossing the highway.
Edi said “the Middle aged woman was said to have ran into the middle of the highway when the accident occurred. The identity of the woman could not be ascertained at the time of this statement.
“Unfortunately, the accident which occurred at about noon on Sunday, claimed the life of the middle aged woman but her baby survived.
He added that “her body has since been deposited at the Kogi state Specialist Hospital in Lokoja while the little baby is currently receiving medical attention at the same hospital.
“Governor Idris Wada, who was briefed about the unfortunate incident at his residence received the news with shock and ordered full medical attention be given to the little child,”Edi said
