Kebbi State Ministry Of Environment and Solid Minerals is in collaboration with its sister ministry the Federal Ministry Of Environment to tackle areas grossly ravaged by gully erosion.
This was disclosed by the state commissioner of environment Umar Hassan Kalgo in his office in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him erosion is a not peculiar to Kebbi alone as it is a global phenomenon .
Kalgo added that the state goverment has done a lot in erosion control.He disclosed that a bridge which was washed away by rain along Shema and Bakoshi now been put back to use .The bridge was reconstructed by army engineers who were awarded the contract by the state government.
Hassan further said that due to expensive nature of erosion the federal government came in to assist the state.A team of experts were in the state for physical assessment and thirteen places considered worst hit by soil degradation were listed for action.
