The absence of Justice Maureen Onyetenu of a Federal High Court in Lagos, on Monday, stalled the arraignment of an alleged drug courier, Sunday Adeoye.
Adeoye, 25, was charged by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on one count of trafficking 250g of cannabis sativa (marijuana).
The arraignment of the defendant could not hold on Monday as earlier scheduled, as the court did not sit.
Th Prosecutor, Mr Jeremiah Aernan, alleged that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 3, 2018, at a joint in Oshodi, Lagos.
Aernan said that the defendant was arrested on a tipoff, adding that the substance was recovered from him.
The prosecutor noted that cannabis was a restricted narcotic similar to cocaine and heroin.
Aernan said that trafficking in the substance contravened the provisions of Sections 11(c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation, 2004. (NAN)
