Professor Adewale R. T. Solarin has been appointed Director General of the National Mathematical Centre, (NMC) Sheda, Abuja by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
The appointment which is for a single term of five years is contained in a letter dated April 8, 2013 titled: Re- Appointment of Prof. Adewale Solarin as the Director/Chief Executive Officer, National Mathematical Centre, Abuja.
The letter addressed to Prof. Adewale Solarin and signed by the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa’i reads: “I write to convey to you, the approval of Mr. President, His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, for your appointment as Director General/Chief Executive Officer,
National Mathematical Centre, Abuja.
“The Appointment is for a single term of 5(five) years with effect from 31stMarch 2013.” Solarin a renowned professor of Mathematics was before his appointment the Acting Director General of the NMC, the letter stated.
He became a professor of Mathematics since 1997 and has trained and mentored many Academics all over the world in the Mathematical sciences from first degree to PhD levels.
Solarin has been the acting Director General of the National Mathematical Centre since June 2012 before his elevation by the President. He is married to Valentina with whom they have three children.
