#TrackNigeria -The police in Lagos have raided what it described as criminal hideouts inside Alaba Rago Market at the weekend.Lagos Police Spokesman, DSP Bala Elkana who disclosed this in a statement Sunday said some suspects were arrested while substances suspected to be Indian helm were recovered.
According to Elkana, “On 27/04/2019 at about 3.45pm on the strength of information, Police Operatives from Okoko Police Station led by the Divisional Police Officer, raided a criminal hideouts inside Alaba Rago market.
“Six Suspects namely [1]Ayomide Samuel 21yrs[2] Job omesi m 16yrs [3] Buhari Oseni 27yrs [4] Muda Haruna 30yrs [5] Obasanjo Segun 37yrs and [6] Suraju Ayuba 28yrs were arrested. Six Nylons bags filled with dried leaves suspected to be Indian helm were recovered. Investigation is ongoing, suspects will be charged to Court
The spokesman further disclosed that six suspectswere arrested for alleged cultism and murder
He said “On 27/04/2019 at about 10.30am Police operatives attached to Area J Command Lagos arrested six cultist namely 1 Babatunde Wasiu , 30yrs, of no22 Lumo street off surulere ,Lagos, 2 Bolaji Elijah,age 25yrs m of no 44 Yewa rd, Pokah Imontun Epe, 3 Joseph Timoth 32yrs m of no 5 Okia Jano street Eredo,Epe.4 Bolaji Olayiwola 22yrs m of no 6 okesuna street ,Obalende,Lagos 5 Saheed Lateef 22yrs m of no 13 Baale Obodo street okeranla Street , langbasa , Ajah , 6 Julius Augele 20yrs m of no 13 obodo street, okeranla, Langbasa, Ajah ,Lagos. The suspects were arrested in connection with the clash between Eye and Aiye cult groups, which occured on 14/4/2019 at General paint ,Ajah. The clash left 4 Aye cultist dead. The axes and jack knives which they used during the clash were recovered from them. Four suspects were earlier arrested and charged to Court in connection with the incident, bringing the number of suspects arrested to ten. Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department CID, Panti is investigating the case. Suspects will be charged to Court.
On the issue of arrest over murder, the police said “On 27/4/19 at about 2.45pm Dopemu Police Station received a distress call that some persons engaged themselves in a fight at a drinking joint along OGUNBAMBI Street Agege. A team of Policemen from Dopemu Police Station was drafted to the scene to restore order. Preliminary investigation carried out revealed that one Bukola Oluwaseun ‘M’ 37yrs old of Adeyola Street Dopemu was stabbed on the neck with a bottle by one Sunday Isiah ‘M’ 42yrs old of No. 20 Olufeso Street Dopemu. The victim died on the way to hospital and his corpse was deposited at the Mortuary for post mortem examination. “The suspect (has been) arrested by the Police. Investigation is ongoing. Case will be charged to Court.
Also suspect involved in the murder of NANS JCC PRO Lagos axis has been arrested by Police
According to the police, “On 26/04/2019 at about 11.30am, one Comrade Oshin Aderigbigbe m, later identified as the Public Relations Officer, Joint Campus Committee (JCC), National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Lagos axis , reported at Okokomaiko Police Station with blood gushing out of his body and stated that he was attacked by three young men who dispossessed him of his handset and laptop and stabbed him with a knife. He was rushed to the hospital but eventually died. The leader of the hoodlums that attacked him, Bashiru Ahmed a.k.a Kawu ‘m’ 21yrs old of Okoko was arrested. He confessed to have committed the Crime along with two of his friends who are now at large. The said Bashiru Ahmed who is the son of a popular traditional ruler in Okoko, is a notorious criminal who was charged to Court on several occasions by the Police for sundry offenses. He returned from prison six months ago and has been on the watchlist the Police.’
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Zubairu Muazu mni has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti for discreet investigation. Detectives have spread their tentacles on the trace of the remaining two suspects on the run.
