The Sokoto state Support office of IFAD-CASP has launched inputs distribution of 2017 N-Agripreneurs (Input Supply) Agro Dealers.
Twenty-one beneficiaries across 12 of the 23 local governments areas (LGAs) of the state have been selected for the programme.
The state program coordinator, Dr. Aminu Aliyu Dogandaji explained that about 21 people benefited from the gesture.
“While N100,000 is the total running cost, each beneficiary is expected to pay 50% to Financial Service Association (FSA) at a period agreed upon. This will enable the beneficiaries to be self-reliant and self-sufficient. The idea is to make sure that the beneficiaries supplied agricultural inputs that would serve their respective communities so as to enhance agricultural productivity,” Dogon Daji said.
He assured that IFAD-CASP would not relent in its effort towards uplifting people’s standard of living, especially in the rural areas.
The Commissioner of Agriculture, Alhaji Abubakar Zaki Tambuwal, who was represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Alhaji Sani Garba Shuni said the state government, through IFAD had embarked on many projects that touched on the lives of rural dwellers
While commending IFAD-CASP for the noble idea in ensuring farmers in the rural areas had access to agricultural inputs, he cautioned the beneficiaries against miss-use of the items, threatening that government would not hesitate to retrieve them.
Newsdiaryonline reports that the programme is aimed at producing agricultural input dealers among the youths where IFAD-CASP would support the youths with the inputs for onward sale to farmers in their various communities.
