The Executive Secretary, National Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) Professor Ismail Junaidu has said, Community of Hausa Nation has allowed itself to be traumatized by the Almajiri scourge to the stage of helplessness.
He stated this while presenting his paper at the Hausa International Conference titled: “The Hausa Nation, Past, Present And Future” organized by the Department of African Languages And Culture, Faculty Of Arts, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
According to him, the Hausa community System has continued to tolerate, through nonchalance the insurgency that pulled it down in all ramifications. Prof. Junaidu noted that, destitution in different forms has eaten the fabric of the society that it has ironically become an enterprises leading to doom. He lamented that drug addiction was ruining the youths and the mothers as such ravaging the home front, as the number of out of school children was soaring high.
He said, the indicators of poverty are ‘more and more with us’ making people to drift away from God.
“The Community of Hausa nation is scared of itself and others look at it scornfully with disdain and contempt. As well, the Hausas easily get scared of the charlatans in the other community making threats”.
On the future of Hausa nation, the Executive Secretary said a projection into the future is not a gimmick or mean pronouncement.
“We need Social realignment that will involved everybody or else engulf everybody”
Professor Juinadu called for the declaration of a state of emergency on Hausa Nation, or else an emergency situation would unfold itself as a compelling social process.
