The office of the Special Assistant to Clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Maikasuwa( Mon) Dr. Christopher Ashiekaa was Tuesday morning gutted by fire.
An eye witness who would not want his name in print told our National Assembly Correspondent that the fire started at about 9.30 am as a result of a faulty electricity cable and lasted for over 2 hours.
Properties destroyed by the inferno could not be estimated but a source put it at over 100m.
As the time of filing this report, the debris were being cleared by almost forty cleaners and other supporting staff of the office of Clerk to the National Assembly located on the third floor of the Senate White House. There was no evidence of the presence of fire fighters at the scene of the incidence.
