The Legal Practitioner Privileges Committee, LPPC on Thursday, July 12, 2012 appointed human rights lawyer Femi Falana alongside 24 others to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria. Among the list of prominent legal practitioners appointed are Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s prosecutor, Rotimi Jacobs and University Law don, Professor Akinseye-George. Others are Professor Dakas James Dakar, Mrs. Joy Okungbowa Adesina, Chief Mrs Connie-Jean Aremu, Mahmud Abubakar Magaji, Ogwu James Onoja, Garuba Usman Tetengi, Henry Oghogho Ogbodu, Selekeowei Larry, Abenny Mohammed and Charles Nwanne Obishai. There are just two professors on the list. Also successful are, Luke Chukwudi Illogu, Francis Chuks Agbu, Paul Ananaba, Akinlaja Dayo Moses, Ahmed Raji, Adekunle Theophilus Oyesanya, Rotimi Oluseyi Oguneso, Oluseyi Samuel Opasany, Aduroja Claudies Olumuyiwa, Aliyu Umar Illo Katune Samuel and Ndukwe Nnnawuchi. Meanwhile, Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Mr. Sunday Olorundahunsi, who made the announcement, said the date for the inauguration of the new Senior Advocates would be determined on a later date. Olorundahunsi, who is also the secretary of the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee, described the process of their selection as devoid of rancor. |
