The All Progressives Congress,APC leaders from Delta state have called on General Muhammadu Buhari to address the problems afflicting the Niger Delta.They made this call during a visit to the president elect at the defense house on Wednesday.
The delegation was led by O’tega Emerhor, the governorship candidate of APC in Delta state in the just concluded election.
Highlighting the problems of his people Emerhor said ” We are here today from Delta with a delegation of party chieftains and leaders to see and complain about the burning issues.We are the oil producing area in the country and we have problem of militancy in Niger delta and we want that to be curtailed.”
” We also want insecurity that happens there to be taken care of , there are issues of pipelines vandalisation and we want that to be dealt with.”
” The high rate of unemployment that result in all these militancy we want it to be addressed.” He said
He also noted ” We want a special (attention) to be given to Niger delta because of the special contribution that region gives to this country, so that we don’t receive any disruption from that area ..”
General Buhari did not hide his displeasure on the basics issues emanating from that region. He assured them that ” Our government will tackle the problem of security critically before it consumes us all. Militancy in Niger delta and insurgency in north east will be addressed.”
He added” the issues of electoral malpractices and violence will investigated and those who are involved will be brought to justice.”
