#TrackNigeria: The Head of the African Union Election Observation Mission, Haile Mariam Desalegn, on Saturday led a team of observers to different polling units in the FCT in the rescheduled presidential and National Assembly elections.
Desalegn, who is a former Prime Minister of Ethiopia and his team set out at 7.30 a.m. to seven polling units in the FCT, as at the time of filing this report.
The team visited PU 009 in Wuse Zone 3 Government Secondary School, and PU 001, Tudun Wada Government Secondary School and PU 026 in Maitama Model Secondary School.
Others are PU 005 Gwarimpa Village, PU 024 Gwarimpa Estate, Gishiri, PU 001 in Junior Secondary School Orozo and PU 014 Jikwoyi Primary School.
In three of the polling units earlier visited, some card readers failed to respond to voters’ cards where the readers malfunctioned before being rectified.
The PU 005, several voters complained of the names list, names beginning with B, not found.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ad hoc staff, however, tried to calm the voters down and said that they would rectify the situation.
Verification started at 8. 09 a.m. at PU 009 while in other centres visited later on, voting had begun in earnest.
Voting in the other units were organised with presiding officers telling the observers that the voting process was peaceful and organised.
Voters turned out en masse and security personnel, party agents were and other local observers were also seen at all the polling units visited.
