Business activities have picked up in Maiduguri after Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly election.
A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), who went round the metropolis reports that businesses and shops which were closed on Saturday for the election, were on Sunday opened for normal activities.
Motorists and commercial tricycle operators were seen plying the roads after the lifting of restriction on vehicular movement.
At Gomboru market, business activities resumed fully as traders opened their shops amid high patronage from customers.
A cross section of the traders who spoke expressed hope of good market in view of the high patronage.
Mr Yusuf Hassan, a grocery operator, said he anticipated good sales due to appreciable patronage by customers.
Hassan noted that the peaceful conduct of the election, especially in the state enabled them to resume their business without challenges.
Mrs Lydia Audu, a resident, said she went to the market to buy vegetables and ingredients to prepare food for her family.
Audu also expressed joy over the peaceful conduct of the election in spite of Saturday’s explosion scare.
Residents were seen in groups at various tea joints and other locations discussing in anticipation of the final election’s result. (NAN)
