Dr Dayo Oladebeye, Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, has tasked the institution’s marketing students to strive to excel in the emerging marketing competitive space alongside their academic pursuit.
Oladebeye gave the advice during the inauguration of a newly built Marketing Model Shop at the institution’s Centre for Continuing Education in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Oladebeye also advised the students to give adequate priority to imbibing the tenets and ethics of modern marketing in their training.
According to him, it has become imperative for students to be diligent in their studies in order to be a good competitors in the emerging global marketing economy.
He described the building project as part of the activities to ensure that the students were exposed to the new trend and modern marketing skills that would stand them out among their peers.
The rector, who is an alumnus of the institution, restated the commitment of his management at giving its best to the training of students.
“We will stop at nothing to ensure that all necessary facilities required to guarantee the professional success of the students are put in place.”
Oladebeye, who described himself as a Marketing Scholar with an MBA degree in Marketing Management, teased the students with Marketing Concepts, Strategies and Terminologies such as Marketing Mix and the four P’s of Marketing – Price, Product, Place and Promotion.
Earlier, Mr Babatunde Agun, the Dean of the Continuing Education Centre, described the commissioning of the Marketing Model Shop as a welcome development toward enhancing skills learning by students of Marketing at the Centre.
In his address of welcome, the Head, Department of Marketing, Mr Samuel Abereola, commended the Rector and the Dean of the School of Business Studies (SBS) Mrs Moni Olowolaju for their guidance and speedy commitment toward ensuring that the Marketing Model Shop Annex was completed to support skills learning.
Abereola noted that the model shop remained a cardinal requirement by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for the teaching of Marketing as a course.
According to him, the commissioning of the Model Shop will commence business instantly to deliver value for money and patronage.
He assured all that the quality of of the products in the shop as well as their price tag would be the best that could be found within the vicinity.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some the emerging modern marketing trends in recent years, include Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) which have become massively popular and are emerging as top trends in marketing.
In 2020, AR is expected to surpass VR in popularity, in spite of VR’s early lead. Already, many major companies are making use of AR.
With a brand-new decade rapidly approaching, some of the top marketing trends for 2020 include Virtual and Augmented Reality, Interactive Content, Personalisation, Google Ads Smart Bidding, Content Marketing, Video Content and SERP Position Zero. (NAN)
