The Democratic People’s Party (DPP) has expelled its former National Secretary, Mr Bala Nafiu over alleged anti-party activities.
DPP stated this in a statement jointly signed by its National Chairman, Mr Garshon Benson and Acting National Secretary, Mr Aminu Sadiq on Friday in Abuja.
It added that the expulsion took immediate effect.
“We wish to notify the general public that our former National Secretary, Mr Bala Nafiu from Gombe state has been expelled from the party with immediate effect, following the recommendation of the party’s disciplinary committee.
“Nafiu was expelled due to his involvement in anti-party activities and using the party’s name for dubious financial transactions,” the statement said.
The party also warned former members parading themselves as its candidates in the 2019 general poll to stop forthwith.
“It has also come to the attention of the DPP leadership that one of our former members has been parading himself as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2019 general election.
“We wish to state categorically that the party’s presidential candidate is Mr Johnson Osakwe, who emerged during our National Executive Committee meeting held on Oct. 30, 2018,’’ it added. (NAN)
