One of Nigeria’s main opposition parties,Congress for Progressive Change ,CPC condoled with President Goodluck Jonathan over the death of his younger brother Meni Jonathan,who died at the State House Hospital this week.
A statement by Engineer Rotimi Fashakin,national publicity secretary of CPC said “We, in the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), received the news of the demise of Chief Meni Innocent Jonathan (younger brother of President Goodluck Jonathan) with unquestionable feeling of empathy for the Jonathan family. Undoubtedly, the loss must have brought great anguish to the family.”
“As a party, we commiserate with the Jonathan family at this very trying time. It is our prayer that the good Lord shall grant the needed grace and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss ” the statement said.
The party also used the occasion to congratulate President Jonathan on his 55th birthday.”While mourning the dead, it is fitting to celebrate the living. It is in this wise that the leadership, members and supporters of the CPC heartily congratulate President Goodluck Jonathan on his 55th birthday. We pray for good health and many happy returns. God bless Nigeria”,CPC said.
Meni died on Tuesday the president’s 55th birthday.
