A Kaduna Chief Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, ordered the remand of a 48-year-old land agent, Sola Adeboye, in a correctional centre, over alleged N10 million fraud.
Adeboye, who resides in Ungwan Maigero, Kaduna, is standing trial in a two-count charge of conspiracy and fraud.
Chief Magistrate Ibrahim Emmauel, who ordered the defendant’s remand, asked his counsel, Mr Gabriel John, to file his written bail application and adjourned the case to March 17.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence with two other persons now at large in 2020 at Barnawa, Kaduna.
Leo also told the court that Adeboye collected N10 million from the complainant, Timothy Caleb, as payment for a parcel of land but failed to deliver same to him.
The prosecutor said the defendant allegedly collected the money and absconded to an unknown destination until the complainant saw him at Barnawa Market on Feb. 12, and got him arrested.
The offence, according to him, contravenes the Penal Code of Kaduna State 2017.
The court did not take the plea of the defendant. (NAN)
