Chief Solomon Lar , First Civilian Gov Of Plateau , Is Dead

Chief Solomon Lar, the first civilian governor of Plateau State is dead.He reportedly died in the United States of America.A source in the family confirmed the news of Lar’s death to Newsdiaryonline.com. “It is true”,he said.
Lar was a progressive politician known as the Emancipator.He was the people’s politician, very highly respected by Nigerians.
Lar was the pioneer national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP after he had participated in the process that led to the emergence of the party.He was one of the pro-democracy elders who struggled for the return of democracy ,against all odds in the latter years of the Sani Abacha junta.
He had reportedly taken ill and embarked on trips overseas on medical grounds.He died at the age of 80.
