President Goodluck Jonathan was on Friday warned against retaining the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mua’Azu ahead of next year’s general elections in the country.
Alhaji Ibrahim Suleiman-Zango, a chieftain of the party from the North-West, who gave the warning in a telephone chat with our correspondent in Kaduna, said apart from being “incompetent” to handle the affairs of the party, Mu’Azu had allegedly planned to work with the opposition All Progressive Congress against the President.
Suleiman-Zango who insisted that Mu’Azu is not the authentic National Chairman of the party, also warned the President and other aspirants of the party not to allow Mu’Azu’s signatures in any of their documents as such would be declared null and void “because Mu’Azu is not the authentic chairman of the PDP.”
He added that if the president fails to hearken to the voice of reasons and sack the acting National Chairman of the party and replace him with Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, the authentic National Chairman of the party,”President Jonathan will be the first seating president to lose presidential election in Nigeria.”
According to him, the acting National Chairman of the party will sabotage the party’s chances in the forthcoming election if not eased out now in order to stabilize the party ahead of the 2015.
“The president should be wary of the acting National Chairman of the party and also urged him not allow Mu’Azu to sign any of his document relating to the 2015 election as that will be used against him(Jonathan).
Suleiman-Zango, who had led some stakeholders of party in North-West zone to call for the removal of the acting National Chairman, also reiterated that earlier call on the president to fire Mu’Azu from office.
The PDP chieftain had on behalf of other stakeholders of the party in the zone said even the continued crisis between PDP Senators and the Presidency was as a result of the inability of Mu’Azu to resolve the matter amicably.
He had also warned that the political instability in the zone and the North-East would consume the party ahead of the 2015 if not properly handled by competent leader like the ex-National Chairman of the party in person of Bamanga Tukur.
Suleiman-Zango had said “Chieftains of the party which met on Monday in the state capital (Kaduna) also believes that the massive defection of members of the PDP in the National Assembly to the opposition party APC was as result of the incompetent leadership of Adamu Muazu to reconcile aggrieved members of PDP.
“Bamanga Tukur is the bona fide Chairman duly elected and recognize by the Independent National Electoral Commission.”.
