Members of the caucus of the All Progress Congress(APC) met on Friday 16th of July, 2017 to discuss the ongoing crisis in the state chapter of the party which has led to the factionalization of the party into two camps.

The suspended state Chairman who is instrumental to the crisis of the party and the South East Zonal Vice Chairman convened a meeting without the faction of the party led by Comrade AC Ude. The reason can be traced to the earlier purported suspension announced by Mr. Ben Nwoye against former gubernatorial candidate in the state, Mr. Val. Nnadozie.

Mr A.C. Ude led faction had alleged that Mr. Ben Nwoye fraudulently diverted party funds and in violation of the party constitution. Mr Ben Nwoye however denies this claim. While it was widely speculated that the meeting of the caucus will address the lingering crisis, it appears that the efforts of the crisis hit the rocks already. Prominent members of the party insisted that all aggrieved members should be given a right to fair hearing. Rather than listen to them, Mr. Nwoye rebuffed their suggestions but rather decided to preside as a judge in his own case.

Other party members observed that the party Constitution provides for the procedures on how grievances among party members or the state working committee should be addressed. Stakeholders and members of the party in Enugu are calling on all party leaders not to allow their personal interests to override party interests. They have therefore unanimously called on Mr. Ben Nwoye to step aside immediately and allow an independent investigation into the allegations levelled against him
