The gubernatorial Candidate of All Progressive Congress ,APC in Bauchi State ,Barrister Mohammed Abduallahi Abubakar has kicked against the imposition of a 24-hour curfew curfew on Bauchi and some towns in the state.
He alleged that the move was an attempt by the state government to change to the result of Saturday elections and vowed to resist any attempt to change the results.
According to the APC candidate the curfew was unncessary in Bauchi. He said “the elections took place peacefully within Bauchi metropolis except in Kirfi and Alkaleri local government areas where there are incidents of attacks. Thanks , INEC said we can cast our votes and protect the votes and that we are going to come out and protect our votes peacefully.”
He said further, “Anybody in the state can attest to the fact that the elections were conducted peacefully within the Bauchi metropolis and therefore, we don’t see any reason why curfew should be impose on a peaceful environment as the Bauchi metropolis. The only time curfew can be imposed is when there is an impending danger but here we are without any impending danger.”
Earlie,rBauchi State Government imposed a 24 hour curfew on Bauchi, Alkaleri and Kirfi towns on the heels of attacks by insurgents on Alkaleri and Kirfi Local Government Areas of the state.
According to a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Special Services, Malam Abdu Illelah ,the curfew was with immediate effect on Sunday.
Bauchi state government said Governor Isa Yuguda imposed the curfew as part of measures to protect lives and properties.
