Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, on Wednesday, advised parents and guardians to enroll their wards in schools to obtain both Islamic and western education.
The governor gave the advice during an inspection to ascertain the progress of work on access road from Bayawa to Fakon Sarki in Augie Local Government Area of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Bagudu spoke separately at Sabla Maisamari, Sabla Zabarma, Sabla Zumari, Sabla Maiyaki and Zabdo villages in Augie Local Government.
He said: “There is the need for parents and guardians to enroll their children and wards into schools to obtain both Islamic and western knowledge.
“Government is committed to providing basic social amenities to communities.
“I want to assure you that water, hospitals, schools and electricity will be provided in the villages as requested.
“I also want to acknowledge the fact that this road which linked several towns and villages to Sokoto border has immense economic benefit, especially to farmers and movement of agricultural products in the area,” he said.
On their parts, the village heads, who responded separately thanked the governor for the construction of road in addition to provision of basic amenities in the area. (NAN)
