The June 12, 2024 Democracy Day celebrations were rocked by President Bola Tinubu’s fall while climbing a vehicle to partake in the inspection of parade.
The video of the incident went viral all day. As the President fell, the security aides were seen in the video rallying to assist him.
The Presidency quickly moved to douse speculations over the President’s open fall. Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy reacted on his X handle saying: “President Tinubu is not a Superman. He is human like all of us.
Onanuga also recalled that, “President Biden has had several slips in the last three years. Even the younger Barack Obama slipped while President. Political leaders are human.
“Slipping should not detract from the import of Democracy Day celebration,” Onanuga said.
Reacting through his X handle also, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar sympathised with President Tinubu.
“I sincerely sympathise with President Bola Tinubu, @officialABAT, over this unfortunate incident as he was set to review the parade on Democracy Day. I do hope that all is well with him. -AA” Atiku tweeted with a video of the incident captured by TVC.
