As Lar’s Body Arrives Nigeria, Sambo Leads FG Delegation To Family

LARVice president Arc Mohammed Namadi Sambo has described the late Solomon Lar as a father, uncle brother and a leader who has devoted his life to the service of the nation, Africa and the rest of humanity.
The Vice President made this statement today when he led a federal government’s delegation to pay their respect to the widow Amb Mary Lar and her children in Abuja residence of the late elder statesman.
Arc Sambo who said that they were there on behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan, the Government and people of Nigeria to pay their condolence to the family, described his loss as a great loss not only to the family but the nation and humanity. He added that the nation would miss his wise counsel great wisdom and invaluable contributions and prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and for God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
In her response, the widow of the deceased Professor Amb Mary Lar, expressed her delight in having such a high delegation in her home who had came to pay their homage, which has demonstrated the high esteem the nation held her late husband
According to the widow, the late Solomon Lar died with the concern of the nation. His thought was for the wellbeing of his country and his belief in Nigeria’s greatness. She thanked the Federal Government for the grand reception accorded them at the airport when the body of her late husband arrived the country today and expressed her gratitude for the government’s show of concern.
Those in the Federal Government’s delegation include the Chief of Staff to the President Mike Oghiadomhe, former PDP Chairman Halliru Mohammed, Deputy Chief of Staff Kachallah Abubakar, Special Adviser on Special Duties Senator Isaiah Balat, Amb Hassan Adamu (Wakilin Adamawa), Special Adviser Political to the President (office of the Vice President) Abba Dabo and Sen Walid Jibril amongst others and the delegation was received at the deceased compound by Professor Jerry Gana and the Minister of Water Resources Sarah Ochekpe.
In another development, Vice president Namadi Sambo has described the death of the former South African President Nelson Mandela as a great loss to Nigeria, Africa and the rest of the world who had lost their greatest son that have brought change and peace to Africa and indeed the black rest. “He has completely changed history by the success in removing apartheid in South-Africa and in fact in the southern and eastern parts of Africa.” Said the vice president
The vice president who recalled his student days in the early seventies when they use to contribute a portion of their feeding allowances for the struggle against apartheid added “Mandela did it and today we have lost him may his soul rest in perfect peace”.
