A dismissed soldier Kabir Adamu and his accomplice, Hashimu Mohammed Zakari have been taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for allegedly engaging in employment fraud.

Adamu was picked up by the Nigerian Army following series of complains against him from several of his victims whom he offered recruitment into the Nigerian Army.
After his arrest, the suspect named one Hashimu Mohammed as his accomplice, leading to his arrest in Kano.
Upon his arrest, Adamu was discovered to be carrying a Nigerian Army identity card bearing the name of one Idris Salisu who is also a military personnel. However, the suspect was said to have removed the picture of the bearer and affixed his own passport photograph on the I.D card. When the suspect was asked how he came in possession of the I.D card, he claimed he found it in a wallet he picked up in Lagos.
Other items recovered from the suspects are, charms and 7 copies of photo album of the Nigerian Battalions who participated in Peace Keeping/Support Operations in Liberia and Sudan.
Further investigation into the suspect’s fraudulent activities revealed that, the suspect defrauded his victims by extracting their phone numbers from the photo album and calling them to send their relatives for special recruitment exercise. Those who took the bait by sending thier relatives, became victims as they were defrauded and left stranded.
Kabiru who was dismissed from the army for unstated offence had been convicted and served one year jail term for theft of motor cycle.
On conclusion of the preliminary investigation by the Nigerian Army, the suspects were transferred to the commission’s Kano Office for further investigation.
