A pro-Jonathan group, the PDP Integrity Vanguard has accused the All Progressives Congress,APC, especially its presidential candidate ,General Muhammadu Buhari of making empty promises.
The PDP Vanguard said in a statement, “At its presidential campaign rally in Aba over the weekend, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Oyegun, hollered to the party supporters: “We promise you 300 million jobs”. No further clarifications on how to this was to be possible, not even to explain if the 3 million jobs were for the people of Aba, the South-eastern states or for the whole nation.
“As if that was not enough the Party’s presidential candidate General Muhammadu Buahri took the microphone and said, we promise constant supply of electricity to the people of Aba and provide financial support to SME to enable entrepreneurs grow their businesses”. Again this is another, neither-here- nor-there, style of promises that have no substance. Perhaps the leadership of APC has forgotten that power distribution in Nigeria is no longer the business of Government, but now with the private sector? Will a possible the APC-led government cancel the concluded power sector reforms?
The statement said further, “We ( are) not surprised, because General Mohammadu Buhari is known for his retroactive decrees typified by the Decree 20 of 1984 that led to the execution by firing squad of 26 year old Bartholomew Owoh at the for drug offenses committed before such Decree came into being. The leopard does not change its colour. We will not allow such character take over the leadership of a 21st century Nigeria.
It recalled that “The APC Presidential candidate said at the rally in Aba, that he will “diversify the economy into agriculture and mining to ensure the no capable able-bodied person roams the streets and become touts instead of becoming productive”. Hear him again. He does not know that the Goodluck Administration has already made agriculture a profitable business which is now attracting increasing g number of youths to take to agriculture as a business. What is APC under the leadership General Buhari going to do with the army of Almajirin in the Northern parts of Nigeria which already roam the streets? What plans does he have to take them off the streets, put them in school, give a trade, and empower them to be self-reliant?
“These empty promises without substance nauseate. We can’t vote for a party that wants to take us back to the Stone Age. The Nigerian public should be watchful”the PDP Integrity Vanguard said.
