The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai has donated 120 bags of rice to 75 widows of Abakpa Military Cantonment and 103 Battalion Akunanaw barracks, Enugu state.
The food item was presented to the slained soldiers wife’s on Friday unbehalf of Mr. Butatai, by Major-General Emmanuel Kabuk, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Nigerian Army.
This was made known in a statement sent to Newsdiaryonline, Saturday, by Colonel Sagir Musa, Deputy Director Army Public Relations.
According to the statement, the distribution of the item was championed by Mrs Talatu Kabuk, President, Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association, 82 Divison Chapter.
However, the statement noted that the donated items is in line with the Army Chief vision on the concept of Responsiveness to the welfare needs of troops and their families.
While presenting the food item to the widows, Mrs Kabuk reiterated the compassionate character of Mr. Buratai.
“Taking serious interest in the welfare needs of NA personnel and their families (especially our widows) is a key component of the COAS vision”, she said.
Hence, empowerment initiatives like the Barracks Investment Initiative, Skills Acquisition Programmes/Centres, donation of food items and Medicals are key desires of the COAS’ aimed at improving the welfare needs of NA personnel and their families which all Commanders have been enjoyed to take seriously”, she added.
The statement also noted that the event was graced by all the executive members of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association and Soldiers Wives Association, 82 Division Chapter.
