The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed dismay over what it refers to ‘malicious and mischievous report’ titled, “Stop fighting Oshiomhole, youths tell Amaechi” in some National dailies.
A statement issued by the party and signed by the Media Consultant to the Party Chairman, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze said the report was aimed at maligning Amaechi.
“It has become imperative to set the record straight as the State chapter of the party doesn’t need any soothsayer to tell her that the report was a mere tool of blackmail aimed at maligning the person and personality of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi the erstwhile Governor of Rivers State, the incumbent Minister of Transportation and the undisputable leader of APC in South -South.
“It is erroneous to report that Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is fighting the erstwhile Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as such a fight only exist in the minds of those promoting this falsehood as Amaechi is neither fighting Comrade Adams Oshiomhole or any other leader of the All Progressives Congress or is he holding or ever had any meeting in connection to who occupies the National Chairman of the party or any other position of the yet to be elected members of the National Working Committee of the party.
The party described Amaechi as a detribalised Nigerian and a respected democrat whose goals and inputs in the enhancement of democratic principles in Nigeria were not in doubt.
It further stated that at the time the Edo meeting was held, the Minister was in the US and couldn’t have held any meeting he was being credited to in this regard.
“Therefore we wish to describe this blackmail and unwarranted attack against a person who sacrificed both his life and resources to entrench APC as a political party in the hearts of Nigerians as most unfortunate, wicked, vindictive, vicious, malicious, despicable, ridiculous and unacceptable.
“To the best of the knowledge of greater members of the party that both Amaechi and Oshiomhole are best of friends and comrades in ensuring that President Muhammadu Buhari wins the 2019 Presidential election so these failed politicians looking for cheap publicity and how to sow seed of discord amongst these two brothers should look for a better job to do as their evil plots against an innocent man have failed even before it was hatched,” the statement further read.
