The BUA Group and the Rotary Club of Gbagada have partnered to offer free ear, nose and throat clinical screening to primary school pupils  in Lagos State.

This was disclosed in a statement by Group Head, Corporate Communications BUA Group, O’tega Ogra, made available to newsmen on Friday in Lagos.

Ogra said the initiative, enjoyed by students of Araromi and Kinniun-Ifa Primary Schools in Lagos, was part of BUA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment to improve the lives of people in communities where it operates.

He said that the screening provided the platform to help detect hearing-related problems and also provide hearing aids for primary school pupils with hearing difficulties.

“The partnership is one of the numerous ways we give back to the society at BUA, from health care to environmental sustainability to education, entrepreneurship amongst others.

“BUA will continue to contribute immensely and partner with like-minded organisations to impact lives positively,” he said.

The President, Rotary Club of Gbagada South, Demola Olutusin, lauded the partnership with BUA Group and also bemoaned the increasing rate of deafness in the community due to late diagnosis and treatment.

Olutusin said the exercise became pertinent to address cases which could have been remedied if only they were discovered early.

He disclosed that the club had provided a borehole, library and playing ground for the students, and was in the process of constructing a block of 16 toilets in a primary school within the area.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that BUA Group recently announced plans to construct a N7.5 billion 220-bed specialist hospital in Kano State through its foundation, BUA Foundation. (NAN)
